Tom Lynch bags eight as Tigers thump Hawks to secure finals berth

RICHMOND secured a finals spot as Tom Lynch booted eight goals in a 61-point win over Hawthorn at the MCG on Sunday.

The Tigers will feature in September after the 20.8 (128) to 9.13 (67) result against the Hawks.

Richmond’s 12th win of the season lifted it into seventh on the ladder, and it can finish no higher with one round left in the home and away season.

Lynch was dominant and finished with 8.0, while Dion Prestia (29 disposals, 11 clearances and two goals) and Trent Cotchin (29, eight and one) led the midfield.

The Hawks were soundly beaten, although James Sicily (30 touches and a goal) enjoyed a good game.
